Thomas graduated his MBA program!! He walks in May. We are all so proud of him!

With Thomas’s graduation, comes yet another stepping stone in our lives. I am going back to school. I finally figured out my “calling”- to be a registered dietitian. “Your food should be your medicine and your medicine should be your food.” I have kind of lived by this motto for, oh, the past 10ish years. I don’t know why it took me so long to discover that I should make a living out of the mantra. Perhaps it was just an inopportune time to be thinking about school in a serious manner. It’s time to get busy!

Cameron and Kennedy are both playing ball this spring. I am sure we will all be very busy over the spring/summer. Between work, ball, school, family- I have a feeling a big part of my social life will disappear. Wahhh!

I think that’s basically it. I love spring!!!

Small Farm Living

Okay, well… not sure we can count ourselves as a “farm”.(what is that definition anyway?) .. but we got some chickens!

They are so cute. 6 of them, all hens (hopefully). It was another one of my brilliant ideas, in theory. The kids seem to love it and Thomas is keen on the free food. (eggs, not chicken meat) We’ll see how things go after the coop building and general care for them. I wish I could have more animals, but….Our next house will have more land and be more private. Count on that.

I went to a backyard poultry workshop yesterday and was surrounded by farm animals, landscape, country folks, and ideas. It was a fantastic time. I wish I didn’t have to live in BFE for my dreams to come into fruition.  In the words of Joel Salatin, Everything I Want to do is Illegal. Chicken Poop.

Welcome to our new family blog! Since I enjoy writing so much, why not write occasional updates on our family?  Hope I can figure this all out!!!  It’s been super-snowy around here. The kids have been enjoying it, but yesterday Cameron told me he was ready to go back to school, and that he doesn’t like snow anymore. I can relate. Poor kid. He is the last one to catch our stomach virus to boot. When everyone is well, we are totally celebrating our health somehow!
